It’s all meat and drink to me …

We were fortunate to find an authentic Serbian restaurant just 100 metres from our apartment. It was called Grmec – which is nothing like the Serbian name in the Cyrillic alphabet as you can see in their logo above!

It was excellent – but not for vegetarians. We ordered traditional Serbian dishes which are heavily focused on meat.

The Serbian beer – Zaječarsko – both quenched our thirst and helped wash down the huge plates of lamb and pork. We had to have a couple of extra pints just to confirm our ratings. Very satisfying. 3½ stars.

While we were eating a number of the local customers were getting very excited watching football on a TV. Red Star Belgrade were playing in a Champions League qualifying match – which they won with a late away goal. For the rest of the evening there were fans driving around the streets sounding their horns and chanting!

  1. Not usually one to comment Iain. Although an avid reader. But really. Their, there, they’re….

    I’m disappointed.

    1. Although on second look may be be my error. Faith restored. It was their horns.

I should really stop trying to be Piers Morgan.
